Raymond Abellio: French Visions for a New Europe

By Stephan Chalandon and Philip Coppens
Raymond Abellio claimed that the Flemish occultist S. U. Zanne (pseudonym of Auguste Van de Kerckhove) was amongst the greatest initiates of our time. But hardly anyone knows who he is. Some have placed Abellio in the same category — though he too is a great unknown for most. And those that have looked at Abellio, have largely concluded that he was a fascist politician, who was also interested in esoteric beliefs.
Is he? Part of the problem is that his writings — like that of so many alchemists — need a key. So much of their material is largely coded text, and Abellio himself used to laugh that most people’s keys “only opened their own doors” — not his. So who was he really, and what were his real political aims?
Raymond Abellio was the pseudonym of Georges Soulès (1907 – 1986), who rose to fame during the Second World War, when he became the leader of the MSR (Mouvement Social Révolutionnaire) in 1942, after the peculiar assassination of its leader, Eugène Deloncle. The invitation to join the organisation had come from none other than Eugène Schueller, owner of the cosmetics giant L’Oréal. As Guy Patton, author of Masters of Deception, has pointed out: “This group had evolved out of the sinister Comité Secret d’Action Revolutionaire (CSAR), also known as the Cagoule. Soules was now to become acquainted with Eugène Deloncle, head of the political wing, dedicated to secret, direct, and violent action.” Later, Patton adds: “So here we have a Socialist turned Fascist, deeply involved in political movements, who actively collaborated with the Vichy government. In the course of his political activities, he was to work closely with Eugène Deloncle, who . . . was closely acquainted with a fellow engineer, François Plantard, and whose niece married [French President Francois] Mitterrand’s brother, Robert.”

Raymond Abellio

Though never confirmed, it is claimed that Abellio was involved with Bélisane publishing, founded in 1973. Bélisane published several books on Rennes-le-Château, the village so intimately connected with the Priory of Sion. In his book, Arktos, Joscelyn Godwin refers to Raymond Abellio as another ‘Bélisane’ pseudonym. For Guy Patton, Abellio is part of a network that tried to create a New Europe, ruled by a priest-king, whereby various modern myths, like the Priory of Sion, are meant to provide the modern Westerner with a longing of sacred traditions and rule, very much like the myths of King Arthur that gave a surreal dimension to European politics in medieval times.
Abellio’s views of politics have therefore been described as very utopian, and he has been suspected of synarchist leanings -– the belief that the real leaders of the world were hidden from view, politicians being largely their puppets. But in truth, Abellio had a well-defined vision for social change. When the battle lines of the Cold War were drawn after the Second World War, he tried to find the best of both camps, and hoped he could reunite them. Why? To create a type of Eurasian Empire, stretching from the Atlantic to Japan, an idea that was taken up by the novelist, theoreticist and his friend Jean Parvulesco. “Parvu” has been identified as the man largely responsible for acquainting at least some with the visions of Abellio — though whether it was the real Abellio or a character created by Parvulesco, remains for some open to debate.
Guy Patton thus sums up Abellio’s view as being “typical of an extreme right-wing esotericism, the aim of which is to ‘renew the tradition of the West’. He wanted to replace the famous Republican slogan, ‘Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,’ with ‘Prayer, War, Work,’ to represent a new society built on an absolute hierarchy led by a king-priest.”
The implication, however, is that several of the people involved, were not truly devoted to such spiritualism and merely used it as a mask for making money, acquiring more power, and pushing an extreme right wing agenda. Though that is the case for many of those involved, within the mix of powerful and/or money-hungry people, most are agreed that Abellio was truly a “spiritual” man. And it was professor Pierre de Combas who is credited with Abellio’s transformation from politician Georges Soulès into the visionary Abellio (the Pyrenean Apollo), making him not merely a “man of power,” but also a “man of knowledge” — an initiate?
To understand his vision, we need to acknowledge that Abellio’s system, as mentioned, needs a key, and without a key, there is no understanding — hence, no doubt, why he is often misunderstood. Secondly, his system is complex and difficult to summarize in a few words and is perhaps best described by listing some examples.
He wanted to “de-occultise” the occult (e.g. his book The End of Esotericism, 1973), whereby he hoped this would help science. His knowledge of science — acquired as a polytechnic student — meant that he could build bridges between the two subjects, for example between the 64 hexagrams of the Yi-King and 64 codons of DNA, or the correspondences between the numbers of the Hebrew alphabet and the polygons that could be inscribed in a circle.

Jean Parvulesco

The most famous of his works is The Absolute Structure (1965), which made him be regarded as an heir to phenomenological philosopher Husserl. Such topics, of course, hardly make for bestsellers, but are the type of study one would expect from a genuine alchemist.
His drive for an “absolute structure” is a vital ingredient for his visions of the “Assumption of Europe,” i.e. what he sees as the destiny of Europe: “the Occident appears to us not to be only as an interval separating the opposing masses of the East and the West, but is the most advanced carrier of the dialectical of the present time.” In short, he did not believe in the subject-object duality that continues to drive most politicians into fear-mongering and the other usual tactics employed by their ilk, but instead preferred a more complex model, centered on Conscience (the zero point), which evolved along the base towards Quantity (science) and upwards to Quality (knowledge), which gave him a six-armed cross, or the “hypercubic” cross, to use Salvador Dali’s words — a man who equally spoke of the “Assumption of Europe” in some of his paintings. In short, the “hypercubic cross” allowed Abellio to express all ontological and spiritual problems in dynamic terms — and it is clear that he used complex wording, making his thinking difficult to understand, which is no doubt why he is easily misunderstood, was thought to be writing mumbo-jumbo, or simply neglected.
First of all, to get our heads around his terminology, we need to know that the Bible was one of Abellio’s most often consulted books and he described the stages of the evolution of a civilization in Christian terminology: birth, baptism, communion, etc. Hence why he said that the next stage in Europe’s development mimicked assumption, which is specifically linked with the Virgin Mary — the Saint who was deemed to play a pivotal part in Europe’s future. She is, of course, also a supernatural being, which was said to have appeared on numerous occasions, to advice Christian Europe what to do and what not, such as in the politically charged “secrets” of Fatima in 1917.
In 1947, in his book Towards a New Form of Prophecy, an Essay on the Political Notion of the Sacred and the Situation of Lucifer in the Modern World, he notes: “not more than any other being, man is but an addition, a juxtaposition of Spirit and Matter, but an accumulator and an energy transformator, of variable power according to the individual, and capable of passing his energetic quantity of one qualitative level to another, higher, or lower.” Thus, we see a mixture of Christian eschatology, prophecy, as well as quite Gnostic doctrines on what it is to be truly human.
Abellio was therefore a modern visionary, but he was also an astrologer. He predicted the fall of the Soviet Union for 1989, as well as the ascent of China. He qualified its Marxism as “Luciferian,” which he did not suggest should be interpreted in a moral sense, but that the Chinese materialism had to be integrated in terms of the Absolute Structure, in opposition to the individual and “Satanic” materialism of the United States.
In the West, it was the task of terrorists — freedom fighters — to bring about this change. These “heroic” terrorists’ battles were brought to life in his novels. In retrospect, he said that his first three novels were indeed “apprenticeships”, where his heroes evolved, whereas his final novel — published 24 years after The Pit of Babel (1962) — Motionless Faces (1986) was for him “that of the companion who is trying to become master.”
However, many consider The Pit of Babel to be his best work and it is here that he plots intellectuals that are disengaged from all forms of ideology and scruples engaging in wide-spread terrorism. It is a theme he revisited in Motionless Faces, where the primary character attempts to poison the population of New York, not through any straightforward means, but by using the creation of an illuminated architect who had built a type of “counter-structure” underneath Manhattan, which was reserved for an elite — a type of urban Aggartha.
The heroine of his last novel is named Helen, also — not coincidentally — the name of the companion of Simon Magus. In the end, she perishes, taken to the center of the earth by a subterranean stream, underneath Manhattan. In the case of Simon Magus, Helen was the personification of Light, held prisoner by matter. Abellio specifically chose his name because he identified himself with Apollo, another deity connected with light and the initials of Raymond Abellio — RA — were of course those of the Egyptian sun god.
Abellio himself never met his “ultimate woman,” even though he searched for her. She may have been Sunsiaré de Larcone, herself a writer of fantasies as well as a model, who died at the age of 27 in a car crash in 1962. She had labeled herself his disciple. Other — equally beautiful — women had gone before, and would go after, but no-one was apparently worthy of being “his” woman. Hence, his tomb contains an empty space for his “Lady.”
It is in Motionless Faces that Parvulesco studied in detail in his essay, “The Red Sun of Raymond Abellio,” published in 1987. Parvu was a novelist who is both close and far removed from Abellio. Close, because they shared a similar vision of the “Great Eurasian Empire of the End.” He too had his initiators, and he saw himself heir to the “Traditional School,” which had previously had authors such as René Guénon and Julius Evola, whom he met in the 1960s. He was preoccupied with the “non-being,” the forces of chaos, which make him into something of a dualist, i.e. a Gnostic. With Evola, he shared the idea that there was a need for a final battle against the counter-initiatory and subversive forces (the non-being), as well as having a certain desire for Tantrism.
Parvulesco often uses the term “Polar,” which he used to refer to the “polar fraternities” — of which Guénon had once been a member — and which he saw as important instruments in the creation of modern Europe. He also used the term to refer to the Hyperborean origins of the present cycle of humanity, which he argued would soon end with a polar reversal. Here, he is close to Guénon, but far from Abellio’s thinking, who had an altogether more optimistic vision of the future. So despite their kinship and a common goal, how that New Europe would be accomplished, was not identical — or compatible.
Parvulesco has often been cited by the European extreme right-wing. It has meant that several authors have seen him as one of them, but it is clear that no single writer is in charge of who and where his name is used.
In the early 1960s, “Parvu” was close to the OAS, the “Organisation Armée Secrète,” a terrorist group that was opposed to allowing Algeria to become independent. This meant that he was opposed to De Gaulle, yet he is largely known to have claimed everywhere he could that he was a strong supporter of De Gaulle. Incidents such as these have therefore made him another person that is difficult to place on the political landscape, and it would be best simply to not try and put him into one category. Indeed, what sets him and Abellio apart, is largely that they had an independent vision of the future — and the role of politics. They realized that the world was radically changing, and though their models might in the end prove not to work or be unrealizable, it does not negate the fact that they were innovative thinkers.
It is Parvulesco who brings further detail as to what this New Europe would be and why, specifically, a priest-king is needed as its ruler. In ancient times, these rulers were primarily seen as a denizen of both worlds, a mediator between this reality and the divine realm and Parvulesco makes it clear that “the beyond” is guiding us towards Europe’s destiny, whereby the role of European leaders is first and foremost to correctly interpret the signs, rather than invent new goals and targets.
Parvu has a few constant themes running through his writings, one of them being that of gateways to other dimensions. Whenever historical people (most often politicians) make appearances in his novels, they are not the politicians we know, but their doubles, who evolve in our and another dimension. The novels of Parvulesco are hence often seen as those of the “eternal present” or the “ninth day.”
In Rendez-vous au manoir du Lac, the setting is a strange site where there is a gateway to heaven — Venus in particular — from where, according to Parvulesco, some chosen ones have to transit. In En attendant la junction de Vénus, he repeats this claim, but links it with Mitterrand and specifically the Axe Majeur of Cergy-Pontoise, near Paris. This axis is the creation of artist Dani Karavan and is the “soul” of this new town. It stretches for three kilometres and, if ever archaeologists were to stumble upon its remains in future centuries, it would be classified as a leyline. Though the project commenced before Mitterrand’s presidency, it was during his term in office that the line became properly defined and executed. Today, it is seen — in France — as an enigmatic work, far superior to the Louvre Pyramid or Arche de la Défense, which has set the likes of Dan Brown and Robert Bauval questioning the reasons behind these projects. The Axe, however, is a far more ambitious, greater and more enigmatic project. When we note that Abellio was closely associated with the Mitterrand family, we can merely ponder whether he had a hand in the project.
With the Axe Majeure, it is clear that we are in a strange world where politics and esoterica mingle, partly in this dimension and partly in a divine realm. Well, Abellio hoped that from this mixture, a new form of politics, and a New Europe, would arise. And it is here where we need to see the role of the Priory of Sion, not so much — as Dan Brown and others would like it — as the preservers of a sacred, old bloodline, but a new priesthood — a mixture of politician and esotericist, i.e. like Abellio himself — that can rule a New Europe.
So even though Abellio and Parvulesco have been described as synarchists, they repeatedly referred to themselves as terrorists — freedom fighters, laying the foundation for this New World. The new powerbrokers would not always remain hidden puppet masters, but would clearly one day step to the forefront, to take up the role of priest-king. And for such thinkers, it was a given that France had come closest to attaining this ideal under De Gaulle, whereby the “Great Work” of Mitterrand was seen along the same lines, though clearly not to the same extent, or drive.
Abellio and Parvulesco were therefore new agers, building “An Age of Aquarius”: however, they did not focus on personal transformation, but on social transformation. As an author, one might argue that Parvulesco operates within the domain of the “esoteric thriller,” which in Hollywood is visualized like Roman Polanski’s The Ninth Gate or Umberto Eco’s Foucault’s Pendulum. But both works have great difficulty in convincingly integrating the “passage to another world” within their storyline, often leaving the reader/viewer unsatisfied, or — alternatively — unconvinced of the end goal. Lovecraft has a better reputation and others argue that Parvulesco, thanks to the influence of both Abellio and Dominique de Roux, has gone further, and done better. But the main point is that his esoteric thrillers were to make this step through this “interdimensional passage” not as an individual, but as a society — as Europe.
De Roux (1935 – 1977) was a great inspiration for novelists that evoked what is known as “novels of the End” –  however they visualized that transformation of Europe. Parvulesco actually began his literary career in the magazine Exil, published by de Roux. De Roux traveled widely, and in 1974 wrote The Fifth Empire, about the struggle for independence in Portugal’s colonies, which brings up the same struggle for a new future of a country. The title The Fifth Empire is an allusion to a popular Portuguese myth, namely that of the lost king. Like King Arthur, the Portuguese king Dom Sebastian was said to one day return, to lead his people to a fabulous destiny — which, as can be expected in light of Abellio and Parvulesco’s ideology, was not necessarily of this plane. To quote the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa (a friend of Aleister Crowley): “We have already conquered the sea, there only remains for us to conquer the sky and leave the earth for others.”
What Algeria and De Gaulle had been for Abellio, what Portugal was for De Roux, Putin’s Russia was for Parvulesco. But it is in Abellio’s preface to The Fifth Empire that we find an interesting note that explains the true context and “key” that will unlock their works: “those who attach a profound meaning to coincidences cannot be but stricken by the fact that the last message of Fatima was delivered in October 1917, at the moment when the Bolshevik Revolution begun. What subtle link of the invisible history was thus established between the two extremities of Europe?”
For esotericists who saw our dimension as being infiltrated by the other plane of existence, the coincidences of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Fatima and her clearly political messages, to do with the future of Russia and how it should embrace the Virgin Mary, are part and parcel of how this Great Europe was not merely a political ambition, but part of their vision as to how “real politicians” worked together in league with the “denizens of the otherworld,” so as to accomplish the Assumption. Hence why Parvulesco held Putin’s Russia to be so important. Hence why, no doubt, Abellio tried to make contact with the Soviets to enable this New Europe, which indeed has come about largely under Putin’s presidency.
As mentioned, for Guy Patton, Abellio and Parvulesco were largely Fascists, who abused newly created myths like that of the Priory of Sion, to exert their influence, make money and group power. But that, of course, is merely one interpretation. Take the literature of the Priory and its creator Pierre Plantard and we find that he was close to De Gaulle’s regime. Plantard was in fact responsible for running part of De Gaulle’s “terrorist cells” in Paris when De Gaulle was trying to get to power. Then, Plantard used the Priory to create an ideology that saw a unified Europe, from the East to the West, and it is clear that those involved in the promotion of the Priory later spoke of the importance of Francois Mitterrand.
The Priory is indeed a fabricated myth, a non-existent secret society. But it is equally clear that those involved (Plantard) and those that could be linked with it (Abellio, and to some extent Parvulesco), had genuine convictions of what a future Europe should be. It is equally clear that their interest in Marian apparitions was genuine, and that they saw them as divine guides along the path that Europe had to walk to its future and its next stage, its assumption. And as Parvulesco pointed out: it depends whether you believe in coincidences or not. If not, then you will argue that the major political events of the past century are but tangentially related to the messages received from these apparitions and which are subsequently shuttled to the Vatican (to some extent, together with the British queen, the only priest-king ruling in Europe at the moment). If you do believe that coincidences have meaning, then it is clear that this New Europe is slowly emerging.
In the 1980s, Parvulesco reviewed a strange novel, La boucane contre l’Ordre Noir, ou le renversement, by one “Father Martin,” who had already published “livre des Compagnons secrets. L’enseignement secret du Général de Gaulle.” For an avowed Gaullist, Parvu was obviously in his element. The novel itself has certain common points with one volume of the tetralogy of Robert Chotard, Le grand test secret de Jules Verne. Both books speak of a “reserved region” in Canada, from where there is a conspiracy directed to change the world’s climate. The base is controlled by the sinister “Black Order” and aims to create a pole reversal — a theme also explored by Jules Verne. We can only wonder whether the stories of HAARP — set in nearby Alaska — might be inspired, or reflective, of this. But it is here that we see the final framework of their political ambition: they saw their quest not so much as a desire, a longing, but as a genuine struggle of good versus evil: if a New Europe did not come, the “Black Order” would have won. And in the end, perhaps Abellio and Parvulesco should thus be seen as modern knights, fighting for Europe — a new Europe.

US perpetrates Boston bombings weekly using drones worldwide: Report

Even as Americans grieve over the Boston Marathon bombings, they should know that US assassination drone strikes worldwide kill many more people weekly and continue unpunished, an analyst says.

“While we mourn the horrific events in Boston, we must remember that our government perpetrates a Boston bombing weekly in Pakistan, Yemen and Afghanistan,” political commentator Sean McElwee says.

He adds that although the White House administration alleges that it prefers trials for the rule of law, the true reason for its targeted killing program across the globe is that: it’s cleaner, simpler and less embarrassing to just off the suspected terrorists. The government uses mafia logic - why waste time and energy risking the rule of law when you can just swoop in and launch a smart bomb?

On April 15, the twin bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon killed three people and injured more than 170.

At least five people were killed and seven others injured on April 17 in an attack by a US terror drone in northwestern Pakistan’s tribal region. The drone strike took place in South Waziristan’s Babar Ghar area.

Local officials said the US drones fired two missiles at a house in South Waziristan, and that the house was completely destroyed in the attack.

On April 14, four people were killed by a US terror drone in the Datta Khel area, located some 35 kilometers (22 miles) west of Miranshah, in North Waziristan.

Pakistan’s tribal regions are attacked by US assassination drones almost regularly, with Washington claiming that militants are the targets. However, casualty figures clearly indicate that civilians are the main victims.

In addition, two people were killed and three others injured in a US assassination drone strike in eastern Yemen early on April 22.

On April 17, at least five people were killed in two separate strikes carried out by US terror drones near the Yemeni capital, Sana’a.

Four of the victims were killed in the first strike as they were riding a vehicle in the desert area of Oussab al-Ali, situated about 140 kilometers (90 miles) south of Sana’a, said a Yemeni official.

The fifth victim, who was identified as Hamed Radman, was killed after a drone bombed his house.

The United States has launched numerous drone attacks in Yemen that have killed many innocent civilians over the past few years.

Washington claims that its airstrikes target militants, but local sources say civilians have been the main victims of the non-UN-sanctioned airstrikes.

Yemenis have held many demonstrations to condemn the United States’ violations of their national sovereignty.

America's War on Terror 2.0

Stephen Lendman
Activist Post

Post-Boston bombings, expect Obama and Congress to take full advantage. Perhaps more war is planned. Big lies launch them. Fear-mongering enlists public support. Anything ahead is possible.

A previous article discussed dubious allegations of Syria's chemical weapons use. They resemble fabricated claims about Saddam's nonexistent WMDs. It's similar to false charges against all US enemies.

Iran's repeatedly targeted. New baseless accusations followed earlier ones. More on that below.

Earlier Iran was accused of a fabricated US Saudi ambassador assassination plot. It's falsely called the world's leading state sponsor of terror. Claims that it's developing nuclear weapons don't wash.

Other recent bogus charges included targeting Israeli officials in India, Georgia and Thailand, as well as planning former Defense Minister Ehud Barak's assassination.

None of the above passed the smell test. Headlines regurgitated them for days. Big lies repeated enough are believed. US polls say Americans consider Iran the nation’s top enemy. Mind manipulation conditions them.

Since the 1980s, Washington planned regime change. Israel offers ready support. Independent governments aren't tolerated. So far, war has been waged by other means.

They include saber rattling, cyber attacks, other sabotage, subversion, multiple rounds of sanctions, attempts to cripple its central bank and oil exports, targeted assassinations, deadly explosions, satellite, drone, and other type spying, bogus accusations, attempts to isolate Tehran, and manufacturing consent for what may follow.

On April 22, Haaretz headlined "Canada foils Al-Qaida-inspired terror attack; two people arrested," saying:

Canadian authorities arrested two suspects. Chiheb Essegnaier and Raed Jaser face terrorism charges. According to Canadian authorities, both men:

...between April 1st, 2012 and September 25th, 2012, in the City of Toronto, in the Province of Ontario, and in the City of Montreal, in the Province of Quebec, and elsewhere, did conspire, the one with the other, to interfere with transportation facilities contrary to section 248 of the Criminal Code of Canada, for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group, thereby committing an offence contrary to section 83.2 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

They "conspire(d) to murder persons unknown contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada, for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group…."

Four related charges followed. Allegedly a planned commuter train was targeted. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) claimed:

They had "the capacity and intent to carry out these criminal acts. There was no imminent threat to the general public, rail employees, train passengers or infrastructure."

They're charged with "conspiring to carry out an attack against, and conspiring to murder persons unknown for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group."

They received "support from Al-Qaida elements located in Iran (in the form of) direction and guidance."

Both men emphatically denied charges. Little more is known except cursory, very suspect information. Canadian authorities explained little. Jaser's lawyer John Norris raised concerns. He called the arrests' timing "a bit of a mystery."

He awaits more information. He explained no public safety risk. He called acting now "surprising." It followed "what happened in Boston." It came when the city was on lockdown. It was "timed perfectly with what was happening in the House of Commons…."

It's agenda was changed. A final "Combating Terrorism Act (Bill S-7)" reading was scheduling. It includes new police state powers. Suspects may be held 72 hours uncharged.

Investigative hearings may convene. Individuals alleged to have information on suspected terrorist attacks have no right to remain silent. Uncharged terrorist suspects lose free movement rights. Canadian legislators are being pressured to act tough.

Essegnaier and Jaser appear set up. Charges against them are suspect. Evidence is easy to falsify. It's happened many times before.

Numerous past alleged US plots were planned by FBI provocateurs. Fabricated evidence was used to entrap innocent victims. Canada perhaps is manufacturing terror. The timing of its announcement alone raises suspicions.

In March, US Treasury Department's Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David S. Cohen told the Washington Post:

We believe that Iran continues to allow al-Qaeda to operate a network that moves al-Qaeda money and fighters through Iran to support al-Qaeda activities in South Asia.

So-called transit networks send "funding and fighters to Syria," he added.

Alleged documents claim an Al Qaeda-Iran connection. According to former CIA officer/Obama counterterrorism adviser Bruce Riedel:

It is a partnership of convenience, with some really rough edges.

James Petras explained more. His book titled The Power of Israel in the United States is must reading. His March 2012 article titled "Israel's Willing Executioners: AIPAC Invades Washington" said:

Annual AIPAC meetings are "the most outrageous public display of Zionist pro-Israeli power as it shapes US foreign policy."

AIPAC's sole purpose "is to ensure Israel's unchallenged military and political power over a huge region from North Africa to the Persian Gulf."

Congress, US administrations, top bureaucrats and key advisors support what demands condemnation. "Not since the War of 1812," has Washington "been so utterly humiliated by a foreign power."

In July 2004, Stuart Levey became the first Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence. By email, Petras explained more. He said AIPAC "literally created the position…." Doing so "assured that (it) went to its chosen agent Stuart Levey."

He "ignored money washing by drug cartels to focus on organizing sanctions against Iran." He served until March 2011. He returned to Wall Street.

David Cohen replaced him. He's "the transmission belt for the recent harsh AIPAC authored sanctions on Iran plus the latest Al Qaeda/Iran" allegations.

AIPAC-linked pro-Israeli zealots infest the Obama administration and Capitol Hill. They come. They leave. Others replace them. Israeli support long predated Obama.

AIPAC's one of 52 major US Zionist organizations. They fabricate Iranian threats. They do so ad nauseam. The so-called Canadian plot appears the latest.

On April 24, Haaretz headlined "Canada train plot begs the question: What is the connection between Al-Qaida and Iran?"

Despite no corroborating evidence, Tehran's always "the usual suspect in many terror attacks….(It's) connection (to) Al-Qaida is controversial at best, and to date has yet to be proved."

Their ideologies are polar opposite. Iran has "lots of practical, political, and military reasons for not cooperating with Al-Qaida."

Al-Nusra and other anti-Assad groups threaten a close ally. No evidence links Iran to regional or other terror plots (real or invented).

"Thus it seems, for now, efforts to link Iran to the (Canadian) terror plot….will require more solid evidence." Expect whatever may be presented to be manufactured out of whole cloth.

Iran categorically denied the allegation. It's spurious on its face. On April 23, the Tehran Times headlined "Iran calls claims of al-Qaeda link farcical," saying:

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has vehemently dismissed a Canadian claim that an attack had been planned on the country’s soil with support from al-Qaeda elements in Iran….

This is the most ludicrous thing I have heard in my 64 years," he added.

Speaking at his regular press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Rami Mehmanparast said:

We are opposed to any kind of violent actions that put the lives of the people in danger. The extremist Canadian government has put the Iranophobia project on its agenda over recent years and has pursued hostile (anti-Iranian) measures.

Mossad-connected DEBKAfile (DF) also pointed fingers the wrong way. It didn't surprise. On April 23, it headlined "Tehran and Assad slide past US and Israeli red lines - nuclear and chemical," saying:

All the red lines (were) knocked over by Iran's rapid progress toward a nuclear weapon and by Bashar Assad, who, backed by Tehran, mocked (Obama's) warning a month ago that 'proof of chemical weapons use would be a game changer.'

DF claims "sources confirmed the finding of concrete evidence that the Syrian army had launched chemical warfare against rebel forces."

Claiming and proving are world's apart. DF offered no evidence. Its allegation isn't worth the paper it's printed on. It said "dissonance between Washington and Jerusalem on the issue of a nuclear Iran was present" during Hagel's visit.

Israel refuses to wait for Iran to reach (a nuclear) threshold and insists that the moment to strike is now.

Whether these type comments reflect bluster or Israeli policy remains to be seen. Washington and/or Israel bear full responsibility for so-called terror plots.

They're the world's leading sponsors of state terrorism. Complicit allies like Canada go along. Iran and Syria are falsely blamed. So are innocent suspects. No evidence suggests their involvement.

Imperial priorities matter most. Post-Boston bombings, worse times than ever may follow. Obama and Netanyahu have much more death and destruction in mind. Expect them to take full advantage.

Putin on Boston bombings: We suffered from terrorists almost never labeled such in the West

The deadly bombing of Boston Marathon confirms Russia’s position that terrorists are a common threat to all nations and must never be supported for political gains, says Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin was commenting in Moscow during his annual Q&A session on the flood of comments in the US, many of them from common people, which blamed Russia, where the suspects in the bombing were born, over the crime.
“Common fold in the US are not to be blamed, they don’t understand what is happening. Here I am addressing them and our citizens to say that Russia is a victim of international terrorism too,” he said.
He lashed out at the double standards that spring up when terrorism is concerned.
“I was always appalled when our western partners and the western media called the terrorist, who did bloody crimes in our country, ‘insurgents’, and almost never ‘terrorists’,” Putin explained.
“They [the terrorists] were receiving help, informational, financial and political support. Sometimes directly and sometimes indirectly. And we were saying that we must do the job and not be content with declarations proclaiming terrorism a common threat. Those two have proved our position all too well,” he added.
Putin criticized the idea voiced by some Republican politicians – including Senators Lindsey Graham, John McCain and Kelly Ayotte, and Representative Peter King – to declare the surviving Boston bomber an enemy combatant.
They want “to declare this criminal a prisoner of war. Are they out of their mind? What kind of a PoW is he? Do they fight the Civil War between the North and the South again?” he said.

By declaring the man an enemy combatant like many ‘War on Terror’ detainees, the US would be able to prosecute him in a military tribunal and deny him some of his basic rights as a civilian and US citizen. The White House has rejected this suggestion.
Putin said that Chechnya’s painful common history with Russia should not be grounds for speculation, and does not justify branding all Chechens as terrorists: “It’s not about nationality or religion. It’s about the extremist mindset of those men.”
“I’m saying all this not to put the blame, but to call on bringing ourselves closer together in resisting our common threats, of which terrorism is one and more dangerous. If we truly join our efforts, we will not allow these strikes and suffer such losses,” Putin concluded.
The Thursday remarks were Putin’s first public comment on the worst terrorist bombing attack on US soil since the 2001 destruction of the World Trade Center.
The twin bomb explosions at the Boston Marathon on April 15 killed three people, including a child, and injured 282 others. An FBI investigation revealed that the perpetrators were ethnic Chechens: Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his young brother Dzhokhar.
Tamerlan was killed in a shootout with Boston police days later after the duo killed an officer on the MIT campus. Dzhokhar was arrested hours later in a massive manhunt, and is now being treated for gunshot wounds in a hospital.

What recovery? US rich get richer, middleclass treading water

Income inequality surged during the first two years of the economic recovery, as the top 7 percent of American households was the only group to experience an increase in their net worth.
“Inequality is as dear to the American heart as liberty itself,” William Dean Howells once observed. But this quaint aphorism notwithstanding, the latest report on wealth polarization in the US may be difficult for many Americans to accept.

The top 7 percent of Americans saw their average net worth explode by 28 percent between 2009 and 2011, while the wealth of the remaining 93 percent of the population steadily declined during the same period, according to a study by the Pew Research Center.

From 2009 to 2011, the average net worth of the country’s 8 million wealthiest households surged from an estimated $2.7 million to $3.2 million, the Pew study said. For the 111 million households that make up the bottom 93 percent, average net worth plunged 4 percent, from $140,000 to an estimated $134,000.

The wealth chasm separating the top 7 percent and the rest of American society increased from 18-to-1 to 24-to-1 between 2009 and 2011. Meanwhile, the most affluent 7 percent of households owned 63 percent of the nation’s household wealth in 2011, up from 56 percent in 2009.
The results of the study throw a spotlight on a decades-long trend of increasing wealth disparity across the country, despite growing social and political awareness of the issue. In September 2011, protesters from the Occupy Wall Street movement descended on Manhattan, the financial heart of the US, and in Washington and elsewhere, to protest against rising social and economic inequality, corporate greed and political malfeasance.
Although the last presidential election between Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney attracted attention to issues of inequality, proposed tax legislation aimed at narrowing the wealth gap has failed to pass in Congress.
Meanwhile, too-big-to-fail banks and other corporate entities that failed magnificently during the crisis, only to be rescued by a massive government bailout, continue to grow in size and – critics say – vulnerability to another setback.

Where’s the wealth?

The main difference between the richest Americans and other economic groups, Pew reported, is that the top 7 percent have their wealth diversified in stocks, mutual funds and other financial schemes. For the remainder of the population, household wealth is locked into the value of their homes, the sector that took the greatest hit when the bottom fell out of the US economy in late 2008.

This left the American middle class holding the bag, since this large group lost not only the greatest part of its savings, and there was no government plan to protect Americans from losing their homes in the ensuing chaos. Since 2007, almost 4 million homes have been lost in the foreclosure crisis, according to Forbes. Today, US home prices – except in the most affluent neighborhoods – remain essentially flat.

At the same time, stock prices – due in large part to a massive bailout and buy-in of US banks and corporations, which artificially enhanced the performance of these institutions with the injection of hard cash – have withstood the economic storm. In the two-year period examined in the report, the Standard & Poor’s 500 stock index increased by 34 percent, while the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index dropped by 5 percent.

“It has been a very good recovery for those at the upper end of the wealth distribution,” said Paul Taylor, executive vice president of the Pew Research Center and co-author of the report along with Richard Fry, according to the Washington Post. “But there has been no recovery for the lower 93, which is nearly everybody.”

The grim picture put forward by Pew is consistent with the increasing wealth concentration observed in income statistics, as well as in reports of the paltry growth of middle-income jobs since the end of the Great Recession was declared.

Overall, the amount of wealth held by American households increased 14 percent between 2009 and 2011, going from $298,000 to $339,000 in inflation-adjusted dollars, the report said. Yet the study also revealed that only the 13 percent of households with a net worth of $500,000 or more saw their wealth increase. Every other income group in the US saw their net worth decline.

US, Russia clash over Syria at NATO meeting

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov offered starkly different views of the Syrian unrest Tuesday, after meeting at NATO headquarters, according to VOA.
The United States wants Russia to convince Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down, but Russia refuses. Secretary Kerry tried to downplay the differences.
“There's a difference of opinion between Russia and the United States with respect to when or how Assad might leave. I don't think there's a difference of opinion that his leaving may either be inevitable or necessary to be able to have a solution,” Kerry said.
But Russia says the shape of a Syrian political settlement must be decided by the Syrians themselves, including President Assad. At a news conference, Foreign Minister Lavrov accused Western nations of blocking a series of peace efforts, and said if that continues, Syria could come under the control of radicals.
“Over the last months, there is a growing understanding of real threats we will all face if this status quo maintains, if all efforts to build dialogue will be hindered and blocked by the minority of the international community, which is very aggressive and very bloodthirsty,” Lavrov said.

The U.S. readied a package of up to $130 million in nonlethal military aid to Syrian militants while European countries consider easing an arms embargo. USA Today
Since February, the U.S. has shipped food and medical supplies directly to the Free Syrian Army. The aid was expanded later aid to include defensive military equipment. So far, the U.S. has provided an estimated $117 million in nonlethal aid to the Syrian militants, according to the White House. AP
U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced on Wednesday (April 17) that the Pentagon will deploy about 200 military planners to Jordan near the border with Syria, although Jordan has said that it's against military intervention in neighboring Syria.
However, the troops could be the forerunner of 20,000 or more U.S. troops deployed if the Obama administration decides to interfere in the 2-year-old Syria unrest, senior U.S. officials told the Los Angeles Times.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of Syrian army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

500 Europeans fight along with militants against Syria: EU official

The European Union's counter-terrorism coordinator says at least 500 Europeans are fighting along with the foreign-backed militants against Syria.

EU’s anti-terror chief Gilles de Kerchove told British media on Wednesday that some 500 Europeans were in Syria, to fight against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

He said that Britain, Ireland and France were among the EU countries to have the highest numbers of militants in Syria.

He also warned that the Europeans who have joined the militants in Syria would most likely be radicalized there and would be a serious threat when they get back to their countries.

On Monday, the EU foreign ministers met in Luxemburg and eased EU’s oil embargo against Syria to assist the foreign-backed militants. Under the deal, European countries will be allowed to purchase oil from the militants in Syria and in turn provide them with funds needed to buy more weapons.

Syria has been gripped by unrest since March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of government forces, have been killed in the violence.

Damascus says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

The Syrian government says the West and its regional allies, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants.

Several international human rights organizations have accused militants operating in Syria of committing war crimes.

Four Guantanamo hunger strikers reported in critical condition

A US military official has reported that four of the inmates on hunger strike at the Guantanamo military prison and torture camp are in critical condition and have been transferred to the prison’s hospital.

Lieutenant Colonel Samuel House also announced on Tuesday that 17 out of the 84 inmates currently on hunger strike at the notorious prison facility are being forced-fed through the nose to prevent further deterioration of their health conditions.

Despite the official’s claim that only 84 Guantanamo inmates are on hunger strike, a number of the inmates’ defense attorneys have reported that all of the 166 detainees at the military prison have joined the hunger strike.

The inmates are protesting their indefinite detention by the US military without any charges and with no right to a legal trial.

One of the Guantanamo hunger strikers who has been held captive at the infamous military camp for nearly 11 years without any charges offered a graphic account of his own participation in the hunger strike in an April 14 article, titled “Gitmo is killing me,” published by the US daily The New York Times.

The 35-year-old Yemeni detainee Samir Naji al-Hassan Moqbel, who wrote the article with the help of an Arabic translator and his US-appointed lawyer, said he had lost over 30 pounds since starting his hunger strike on February 10 and experienced severe pain when force-fed by Guantanamo staff.

“Last month, on March 15, I was sick in the prison hospital and refused to be fed. A team from the ERF (Extreme Reaction Force), a squad of eight military police officers in riot gear, burst in. They tied my hands and feet to the bed. They forcibly inserted an IV into my hand. I spent 26 hours in this state, tied to the bed,” he wrote in part.

“I will never forget the first time they passed the feeding tube up my nose. I can’t describe how painful it is to be force-fed this way,” he added.

The hunger strikes began in early February, when the detainees complained that prison authorities searched their copies of the holy Quran for suspected contraband.

Most of the Guantanamo inmates have been picked up by American military forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan in the aftermath of the US-led occupation of Afghanistan under the pretext of removing the Saudi- and Pakistani-backed Taliban regime and bringing stability to the country.

Nuclear warheads in US, Europe threaten all of humanity, Soltanieh says

The Iranian ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says that the tens of thousands of nuclear warheads in the United States and around Europe pose a direct threat to humanity.

Ambassador Ali Asghar Soltanieh made the remarks in a speech at meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the 2015 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference in Geneva on Tuesday.

“The continued existence of tens of thousands of nuclear warheads in the stockpile of the nuclear-weapon states, most of them on high-trigger alert, and their day by day modernization, constitute the most serious threat to the survival of mankind,” Soltanieh told the committee.

He also condemned the US for conducting its 27th subcritical nuclear test in Nevada in December 2012, saying the experiment was “a flagrant violation” of Washington’s “international obligations” and “a recipe for global destabilization.”

“Such subcritical tests and computer simulations to design new weapons, a case of non-compliance by the United States with its international obligations under the NPT, could be a resumption of the nuclear arms race and a revival [of the] risk of global disaster,” the Iranian ambassador stated.

The US National Nuclear Security Administration said the experiment, known as Pollux, was conducted to ensure that the United States “can support a safe, secure and effective stockpile” of nuclear weapons.

According to the United Nations, the US -- which is the only country that has ever used nuclear weapons against human beings -- has conducted over 1,000 nuclear tests since 1945.

Soltanieh noted that spending on nuclear weapons has increased dramatically since 2010 and will reach at least one trillion US dollars over the next decade, adding, “The United States itself will spend untold billions of dollars to operate its nuclear armada during its 50-year planned lifespan (from 2030 to 2080).”

He added that the British government’s plan to spend 100 billion pounds to upgrade its Trident nuclear-armed submarines is a “clear breach of Article VI of the NPT and the commitments [made] during the 2010 NPT Review Conference.”

He went on to say that the sale of German-made Dolphin-class submarines to the Israeli regime, which is not a signatory to the NPT, is “an unconcealed case of proliferation and non-compliance,” since the submarines are capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Since 1958, when Israel began building its Dimona plutonium- and uranium-processing facility in the Negev desert, it has secretly manufactured over 200 nuclear warheads, making it the only player in the Middle East that possesses nuclear weapons.

2 killed, child injured in yet another shooting in US state of Louisiana

Two men have reportedly been killed and a child wounded in yet another shooting incident in the southern US State of Louisiana.

The shooting took place late Tuesday afternoon in the major city of New Orleans, local media reported, citing law enforcement authorities.

When city police responded to reports of multiple gun shots ringing out in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans at about 6 P.M., they were confronted with bodies of two men with multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies on the porch of a home, press reports said.

Additionally, the police officer found an 8-year-old boy that was shot in the arm and stomach.

He was reportedly transferred to a hospital, where he has been listed in a stable condition.

The cause of the shooting is not yet clear as an investigation into the incident has been launched.

However, witnesses reported seeing two men opening fire towards the victim and then fleeing on foot.

As sales of firearms and shooting incidents across the US continue to rise even after an elementary school shooting massacre in the state of Connecticut left 20 children and six adults killed in December 2012, the United States Senate blocked the passage of a gun-control legislation at the US Congress last week.

The US has an average of 87 deaths a day as a result of gun violence, with an average of 183 injured, according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab and the Centers for Disease Control.
